My Training and Philosophy ![]()
I am a certified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor. I was certified by the International Guide Dog Federation after an intensive four year apprenticeship. Training guide dogs for the blind has given me a unique perspective on the relationship between people and their dogs.
My years training guide dogs for the blind offered me the opportunity to be exposed to large numbers of dogs with differing temperaments. I quickly learned the importance of creating flexible training plans that would address each dog’s individual learning style. Learning to handle and train so many different dogs has proven to be invaluable. ![]()
I have tried to carry this unique perspective over to my work training people with their pet dogs. Once you gain a better understanding ofwhy your dog does what it does, you can begin to problem solve on your own. My job is not to train your dog, but to teach you how to be a quality dog handler so that you cantrain and communicate with your pet. With the correct knowledge and skills you will be able to manage your dog’s behavior throughout his or her life. I think you’ll find once you communicate correctly with your dog you will see a more relaxed and happier dog. As we say, happy dogs make happy people!

![]() I could not have done it without Ariel! As a first time dog owner, I was completely overwhelmed with anxiety and excitement when I brought Nola home. I must have called Ariel every day with questions about Nola’s behavior, temperament, adjustment and routine. Ariel was so helpful and reassuring, teaching me how to communicate with Nola in a clear and simple way. Nola and I wouldn’t have had such a smooth and happy adjustment without Ariel’s knowledge, experience, and patience. - Marisa M |
